Toyo Engineering Corporation (TOYO, President and CEO Haruo Nagamatsu), is pleased to announce the signing of a collaboration agreement with 8 Rivers Capital, LLC, United States (8 Rivers, Cam Hosie, CEO) which has licensed natural gas processing technology.
The utilization of natural gas is regarded as one of the options for low carbonization in the time axis for decarbonized society and it is important from the viewpoint of improving energy security and resilience. Natural gas fields are dotted all over the world and development has been promoted from the gas fields with few impurities. On the other hand, sour gas containing a large amount of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) and acid gas containing a large amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) are not well developed due to high technical difficulty and high development cost.
TarT process licensed by 8 Rivers uses innovative distillation technology under high H2S/CO2 conditions. The equipment cost can be reduced by approximately 20% and operation cost can be reduced by approximately 50% compared with the conventional chemical absorption process using amine solvents. In addition, TarT process is a technology that contributes to CCS (carbon dioxide capture and storage) and CCUS (carbon dioxide capture, utilization and storage) because high purity CO2 can be recovered as liquid phase from TarT process.
Under this comprehensive collaboration agreement, TOYO has the exclusive license for basic design of TarT process. TOYO has many commercial experiences in natural gas processing plants, and also has a track record of projects to increase production by injecting recovered CO2 into oil and gas fields. Currently, TOYO is also participating in a project to build a value chain for recovered CO2. By integrating these technologies, TOYO will contribute to the realization of a low-carbon society and a recycling-based society.
