Toyo Engineering Corporation (TOYO, President and CEO Yutaka Yamada) has been awarded a contract for a caprolactam plant for DSM Nanjing Chemical Company, Ltd. (DNCC), which is a joint venture company between Royal DSM N.V. and SINOPEC Group company. The project aims to newly install 200,000 t/y caprolactam plant in Nanjing, China in addition to existing 200,000 t/y caprolactam. After the completion of new project, DNCC will become the largest caprolactam producer in the world with 400,000 t/y capacity. TOYO will engage in engineering, procurement services and construction management on a lump-sum basis. The client will invest approximately US$ 300 million into the project, which is scheduled to be completed in the third quarter period of FY2013.
Caprolactam, the raw material for a nylon fiber (nylon 6), nylon resin and film, is one of core products for Royal DSM N.V., which has plants in Europe, North America and China and boasts a current combined production capability of approximately 700,000 tons per year. With economic development in China, the demand for caprolactam will continue to increase and facility reinforcement this time is aimed to meet the growing market needs. In addition, the most of DSM’s latest technology will be applied to this plant for expanding the production scale while saving energy.
Backed by 40 years experience in China and making the most of local resources centering on Toyo-China, TOYO will strive further for supporting plant construction by companies from third party countries in China and enhancing their presence to win orders there.
