Toyo Engineering Corporation (TOYO) has been providing technical services and data management software for three CDM (Clean Development Mechanism) projects in China. In April and May 2009, these three projects were registered with the United Nations.
These projects are jointly promoted by Chinese plant owners and Japanese trading firms seeking to acquire emission credits, with the purpose of catalytically decomposing and reducing nitrous oxide (N2O) emitted from three nitric acid factories in Anhui, Sichuan and Heilongjiang Provinces in China. Nitrous oxide, a kind of greenhouse gas, has a greenhouse effect 310 times more than carbon dioxide (CO2). These projects are expected to be conducive to annual greenhouse gas reduction in the amount of about 800,000 ton-CO2 equivalent in total. TOYO is implementing a similar project in Russia.
With our group mission "Engineering for Sustainable Growth of the Global Community", TOYO will seek opportunities to work on greenhouse gas reduction projects with its technical expertise and knowledge about CDM-specific requirements gained in the above CDM projects in the globe, especially in India and China where there is a a greater potential for greenhouse gas reduction and we have Toyo-India and Toyo-China of Global Toyo group companies.
