Toyo Engineering Corporation (TOYO) (President and CEO: Yutaka Yamada) has been awarded a project for Methionine (a nutritional feed additive) production facilities that will be constructed in the Dalian Economic and Technological Development Zone in China by Sumitomo Chemical Co., Ltd. (President: Hiroshi Hirose) and Dalian Jingang Group Co., Ltd. On an annual basis the facilities will produce 20,000 tons of Methionine. Construction of the plant is scheduled commence in the spring of 2010.
This new plant will be built to meet the increasing demand for Methionine against the background of increasing demand for meat due to global population and economic growth in developing and newly emerging countries. The construction of new plant located in China, a country exhibiting remarkable economic growth, is positioned to become one of the measures required to enforce the life science field that Sumitomo Chemical intends to increase its focus on.
TOYO was awarded the order because of TOYO’s know-how in relation to business in China, which has been cultivated through TOYO’s achievements in over 140 projects carried out in the country, as well as TOYO’s performance in supporting Japanese and foreign companies expanding their businesses in China, the number of which has been increasing in recent years. TOYO will aim to assuredly complete the ongoing projects and, in addition, will strive to win more projects.
