Toyo Engineering Corporation (TOYO, President Toshihiko Hirose), with the cooperation of Mitsui & Co.,Ltd., has been awarded a contract for additional expansion works relating to a polyethylene plant project. This plant is to be constructed in the Al-Jubail Industrial City on the eastern coast of Saudi Arabia by Arabian Petrochemical Company (PETROKEMYA) , a wholly owned subsidiary of SABIC (Saudi Basic Industries Corporation).
This expansion will add a capacity of 400,000 t/y, the same capacity as the plant for which TEC received an order in January this year from the same client. This will make total capacity 800,000 tons, which will make the plant one of the largest polyethylene plants in the world.
TEC's scope of work includes design work, procurement of equipment and materials, and construction work on a turnkey contract basis. The plant is expected to be on stream by the middle of 2003.
