Toyo Engineering Corporation (TEC, President Toshihiko Hirose) was formally awarded a basic design work contract for the second phase capacity expansion of an ethylene plant in eastern Thailand. This plant of National Petrochemical Public Co., Ltd. (NPC) is currently in operation in the Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate in Rayong Province.
This contract is for basic design work of the second phase capacity expansion from 401,000t/y to 461,000t/y at an ethylene plant built by TEC in 1989 (original capacity 315,000t/y). The licensed process technology applied for this expansion facility is the same as that used by the existing plant, the ethylene process of ABB Lummus Global Inc. of the USA, and basic design work is scheduled to be completed by March 2002.
The contract for this basic design work was awarded to TEC in view of TEC's proven reliability in terms of technical process and quality as well as the appropriateness of the price TEC offered. The background to this includes an extensive track-record of projects in Thailand such as petrochemical and petroleum/gas treatment plants as well as engineering & construction work on existing plants, and subsequent continuous customer support activities which have led to excellent relations with the customer.
By achieving a successful completion of the current design for the plant capacity expansion project, TEC expects to attain an even higher level of trust from NPC, and TEC is committed to active sales campaigns for new orders for EPC work.
