Toyo Engineering Corporation (TEC, President Toshihiko Hirose) was recently awarded a formal contract for the production facilities of No.3 Bisphenol A Plant by Mitsui Chemicals Inc. (MCI, President Nakanishi Hiroyuki) on Sakra Island, Singapore.

The new plant will be constructed at the site of Mitsui Bisphenol Singapore Pte Ltd., a local subsidiary of MCI. The new plant will have the same production capacity as the existing No.1 plant (completed in March 1999) , No.2 plant (scheduled to be completed in August 2001) , 70,000 t/y of Bisphenol A , and the production facilities will be built by TEC. TEC's scope of work includes design , equipment procurement , construction and commissioning on a turnkey contract basis with completion scheduled for June 2002. The "Mitsui Chemicals Process" will be employed , as was the case with the No.1, No.2 plant.

TEC was awarded this contract in view of its extensive track record of petroleum refinery and petrochemical facility construction projects as well as the successful completion of theNo.1, No.2 plant and TEC's considerable record of construction projects in the Singapore area.

In view of the active program of plant and equipment spending expected in S.E. Asia with Singapore as a key hub location , TEC is committed to extensive sales operations in the region. It also plans to further intensify its efforts in the area of performance polymers.
