Toyo Engineering Corporation (TEC, President Toshihiko Hirose), together with Saudi Toyo Engineering Co. (its local subsidiary in Saudi Arabia) and Toyo Engineering Korea Limited (TEC KOREA - a local subsidiary in South Korea), has been awarded a contract for an ammonia plant debottlenecking project in Saudi Arabia. TEC Group recently signed a formal contract with National Chemical Fertilizer Co. (IBN AL-BAYTAR), subsidiary of SABIC (Saudi Basic Industries Corporation), for this project. The scope of work of the contract includes design work , procurement of equipment and materials , and construction work. The planned expansion is scheduled for completion in February 2002.
This is a project to expand the design capacity of an existing ammonia plant from 1,500 to 1,750 t/d. The original plant was built by TEC in 1987 at Al-Jubail Industrial City on the eastern coast of Saudi Arabia and uses natural gas as the feedstock. In June this year, TEC participated in international bid tendering for this expansion project. Thanks to TEC's good relationship with the client, developed during the construction of the existing plant , and in view of TEC's excellent technical reliability and price competitiveness , the contract was awarded to TEC Group.
TEC is enhancing transnational structure as one aspect of its global operational strategies. The award of the contract for this project proves the successful cooperation between TEC and TEC KOREA (formerly TMS Engineering Corporation - renamed on July 1, 2000). TEC intends to expand its transnational structure to further strengthen the global business operations of TEC Group.
