On May 01, 2013, Toyo Engineering Korea Limited (Toyo-Korea, President and CEO Osanai Toru ) was awarded a contract from Toyo Engineering Corporation (Toyo-Japan, President and CEO Katsumoto Ishibashi) to provide Front End Engineering Design (FEED) services for a 450,000 t/y linear low density polyethylene plant (LLDPE) as part of Sasol North America, Inc.’s (Sasol) planned petrochemical complex to be established in the United States of America in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
Sasol is planning a world-scale ethane cracker with downstream derivatives at its Lake Charles site and has selected the UNIPOL™ PE Process of Univation Technologies, LLC for its new LLDPE plant.
Toyo-Japan and Toyo-Korea have vast experience in executing LLDPE projects. Following the recent award of EPC services with Toyo-Japan for the Egyptian and Derivative Company’s (Ethydco) project in Alexandria, Egypt, this award added the 20th project to Toyo-Korea’s UNIPOL™ PE Process track record.
This award represents a strong foothold toward penetrating the US shale gas market and will expect to acquire upcoming shale gas projects.
