As part of their volunteer “trash collection” activities, some of our site staff visited “GAOSHANCAODIAN”, one of the most famous tourist sites in Qinling-Xian on December 2009.
The saddle-shaped, 2,200-meter GAOSHANCAODIAN has few trees, but is covered with shrubs and weeds. Unfortunately, it’s also a popular mountain path for irresponsible tourists. Large quantities of trash and non-biodegradable plastic bags are discarded randomly everywhere on the hill.
Our volunteer group used shovels and their bare hands to dig out any trash that had been covered with snow.
